Robert Bossar, 66, of Kent, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Akron City Hospital. Born on May 9th, 1946 in McKeesport Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of the late Steve and Dorothy (Paich) Bossar. He grew up in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and graduated from Gateway High School. Bob attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and graduated from Kent State University in 1970 with a degree in Industrial Psychology. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard's 145th Infantry Division on campus at Kent State May 4th, 1970. During that time he went on to marry the love of his life, Marily (Hayko). Not only were they spouses but best friends who enjoyed each other's company.
Bob began his work career at Don Joseph Chrysler Plymouth in Kent. He worked many years in the field of human resources at the University of Akron and taught evening courses in personnel practices. He also worked at Cuyahoga Community College in human resources. Bob retired from the University of Akron. He worked for ODOT for nine years as Deputy Director 5 of District 4. His expertise in the human resources area was respected by many. In 2005 Bob began to sell real estate for W.W. Reed in Kent. He was also on the Kent Civil Service Commission.
Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, Marily. His favorite places included Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, Phoenix, Arizona and Durango, Colorado. Wherever he traveled he loved taking chances on the "one-armed bandits." The Native Americans were always good to him. He always enjoyed spending time with his Rusty Nail buddies. During football season you could find him rooting on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the evenings you'd find him in his favorite spot on the deck with his glass of Crown planning his next Griswold adventure.
Bob could find someone to talk to wherever he went. He was outgoing and made people feel at ease. He could always make you smile or laugh with his many jokes and stories (with some being exaggerated!)
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marily (Hayko) Bossar. He is also survived by sisters, Mildred (Jim) Cannillo of Jacksonville, Florida, Violet (Milan) Novakovich of North Huntington, Pennsylvania and brother, Ray (Arlynne) Bossar of Trafford, Pennsylvania. Also, special adopted daughter, Brooke Gustavel, plus many nieces and nephews.
