Robert Martin Dillenback, 77, of Kent, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Kent Healthcare Center.
He was born May 6, 1936 in Grand Haven, MI to Marion and Louise M. (Heminger) Dillenback. He was the Executive Director of Sheltered Workshops in many areas of the Mid-West. He retired from Forest City Enterprises as a maintenance supervisor. Bob attended the United Methodist Church of Kent and was a member of the Rees Chapel Methodist Church in Keyser, WV. He was a former member of the Calumet Elks Lodge and the Keyser, WV Lions Club. Bob was a Firefighter for the city of Grand Haven, MI and served on the City Council for many years. He organized the Toys for Tots program in Grand Haven and was one of the planners in the construction of the musical fountain also in Grand Haven, MI.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Jeanne (Golden), whom he married in a blinding snow storm in Baraga, MI, on November 18, 1978; son, Eric (Lisa) Grenier of Marinette, WI; daughter, Kim (John) Gilmet of Aguana, CA; granddaughters, Skyler and Lynsey Grenier; sisters-in-law, Lynne Palo, Lisa (John) Kemppainen and Luanne (Charles) Hamel; nieces and nephews, Daniel (Amber) Kemppainen, Jill (Jeremie) Moore, Robbie (Laura) Hamel, Michael Hamel and Lindsay Hamel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Louise Dillenback; brothers, Thomas and John Dillenback.
Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Kent and in Houghton, MI at a later date. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
