Robert B. Leland Jr., 88, lifelong resident of Kent, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Heather Knoll Retirement Village. He was born in Ravenna on October 25, 1935 to the late Robert Sr. and Faye Leland and was a graduate of the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus.
Robert was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and the Christ Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Cleveland. He was a founding member and past president of the Ohio Silent Wanderers Club and was employed in Production with the Akron Beacon Journal for 42 years. Robert was an avid golfer and was in the Masonic Golf League at Oak Knolls for over 50 years. He enjoyed baseball and was on the Akron Club of the Deaf Softball Team. He also enjoyed camping and cooking and was known for his great sense of humor and wonderful laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert leaves his loving wife Beverly Leland; children, Robin (Robert) Spano, Sally Leland and Steve (Farah) Leland; grandchildren, Damiano (Laura) Spano, Andrea (Josh) Spano, Meredith (Ali) Spano, Jordan (Kate) Spano, Zachary Leland, Jaden Goyette and Kisha Leland; and four great grandchildren.
In honoring his wishes, Robert will be cremated and there will be no formal services.
