Robert Louis Nolte

December 7, 1929 — December 7, 2020

Robert Louis Nolte (Bob), 91, of Tallmadge, Ohio, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, December  7, 2020, after a brief illness.

He was born December 7, 1929 in Brimfield, Ohio to Herman and Elizabeth (Semones) Nolte, and came from a large and loving family.  Bob graduated from Roosevelt High School in Kent, and upon graduation joined the Army, where he was stationed in Germany as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces.

Bob married Patricia Ann (Bell) on September 15, 1956 in Akron, Ohio.  He was a sociable person and had a long career in the shoe business. He managed several Noble Shoe stores in the Kent area and moved into leadership positions within Endicott Johnson, relocating to Endicott, New York until his retirement. Upon retirement, he and Pat returned to Tallmadge.

Bob was a devout Catholic, and he and Pat were very active in all of the parishes to which they belonged. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory in Tallmadge, a Eucharistic Minister, member of the RCIA team, and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. While in Endicott, he was involved in RCIA and liturgical ministry.  Bob was an accomplished wood carver and stained glass artist (many of his friends and family were recipients of his beautiful creations and will cherish them always). After retirement, he and Pat enjoyed manning the concession trailer at county fairs in the summer and fall with his sister-in-law Suzanne and brother-in-law Lenny Gucciardo. Bob was happiest working the counter and talking to customers, but he was also an exceptional fry cook!

Having no children of their own, Bob and Pat were much beloved uncle and aunt to 39 nieces and nephews, 12 grand-nieces/nephews, and four great-grand-nieces/nephews. Bob was the perfect example of Christian selflessness in a selfish world. He made friends easily, was a great friend to his family and his brothers/sisters-in-law, and he enjoyed visiting and keeping up with their interests and activities. Bob was always more concerned about what he could do to brighten their day and how their lives were going than his own. He leaves a great hole in the hearts of his family and friends who loved him.

Bob is survived by his brother, Don Nolte (Sue). He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia; parents, Herman and Elizabeth; brothers and sisters, Honora, Carl, James, William, Herman, Jr., Frank, Sarah, and John Rudolph.
