Robert W. Parmenter, 87, of Kent, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
He was born August 31, 1925 in Kent to Samuel W. and Frances M. (Mitchell) Parmenter. He was a 1943 Theodore Roosevelt High School graduate. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the South Pacific. He then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Botany from Kent State University. He was an avid fan of Jazz music. He truly enjoyed his BMW motorcycle including trips to Nova Scotia and Yellowstone. He loved his NASCAR and the Cleveland Indians. He was a member of the Kent VFW and the Kent Elks. Bob was a kind and generous man with a big heart. He will be missed.
He is survived by brother, Richard Parmenter of Ravenna; and long-time friend, Sylvia Popson; her children; Lisa, Randy, Tim, and Gary; her grandchildren, Jamie, Cory, Mitch, Andy, Alex, and Haley; her great grandchildren, Zachary "Little Man", Kennady, Graysen, and Grant; and special nephews, George Gardner, Craig Gardner, Jeff Gardner, and Kevin Gardner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; daughter, Amy Lynn Parmenter; brother, James Parmenter; and sister, Mary L. Way.
