Robert "Bob" Weiss

December 19, 1928 — January 30, 2015

Surrounded with prayer and his loving family, Robert "Bob" Weiss entered into eternal life on January 30, 2015. He was 86.

Born in Kent on December 19, 1928, Bob lived his life here. Attending Kent Schools, he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and continued his education in business.

After proudly serving in the United Stated Air Force, he returned to Kent with his wife, Mary Jean, to start a family and resume his role as owner of Weiss Motors Inc., which his father started in 1928. His dealership throughout the years included International Trucks and School Buses, Hudson, Nash, Rambler, and American Motors. Always passionate and proud of Kent's automobile history, his legacy continues at the same Crain Avenue location and also with R.J. Weiss Motorcars on West Main Street in Kent.

Bob shared a deep love for his wife of 63 years, Mary Jean. Together they spent their lives devoted to their four children. He loved history especially Kent history. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, Kent Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the Masons.

He was happiest at the many family gatherings which always included talks of today and yesterday.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jean; children, Robert (Terri) and Todd (Wendy) of Rootstown, Ronald of Mogadore, and Carolyn (Don) Brown of Kent; grandchildren, Rob (Courtney) Weiss, Matt (Christa) Weiss, Joel (Danielle) Brown, Corey (Tiffany) Brown, Seth Brown, and Nolan (Whitney) Brown; many loving great grandchildren; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, "Dutch" and Jessie Weiss; many family members; and many lifelong friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all he met.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and kindness; and special thanks to our Angel, Pat (Don) Goodhart.

The soul takes flight to a better world where God will welcome you with open arms.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 5th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home with Father Richard Pentello officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the services. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
