Robert E. "Bob" Wenrich,

July 12, 1932 — November 25, 2015

Bob was born to Rudolph and Gladys (Spence) Wenrich on July 12, 1932 and passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 25, 2015 in Punta Gorda, Florida following a brief illness.

To Bob, life was an adventure he lived to the fullest, which was the catalyst to the nickname he earned by those who knew him well as the "The John Wayne of Twin Lakes." As a young man, Bob's promising career as a stock car driver was interrupted when he was drafted by the Army. Bob became a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne (C/52-53), jumping out of planes simply because the pay was better than infantry. Locally, Bob was the owner/operator of Beck Sand and Gravel for 22 years. He was proud to be affiliated with the Masons for 50 years. An avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, collector of antique tractors, Bob was constantly active. Bob's last 18 holes of golf was four days before he was hospitalized. Despite the fact that he was not feeling well, he happily shot his age of "83".

Bob was a true world traveler for pleasure and sport. After every journey, his homecoming tales of adventures would have you shaking your head in wonder and awe. His beloved West was his stateside destination road trips. One of his most memorable trips was in 1999 when he traveled a 6,000 mile trek that took him to north Canada and west to the state of Washington on his Harley-Davidson Road King. He drove back to the West in September just to be in the land that he loved.

A giant of a man with a heart full of compassion. Bob gave generously to his friends, family or anyone in need. Throughout his life, Bob accomplished everything he set out to do. His "bucket list" was crossed off, his bucket was empty.

Bob is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 32 years; his children, Robert "Rick" Jr. (Luann), Randall (Diane), Rodney (Robin) and Wendy (Richard) Hirt; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Bette Johnston, Barbara Orvik and Bonnie Toepke. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Wenrich; and beloved uncle and aunt, Fritz and Jessie Wenrich.

Calling hours will be held 12-2 PM Sunday, December 6th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent where funeral services will be held 2:00 PM with Kevin O'Brien officiating.
