Ronald Allen Hnath, age 77, of Kent, was born April 8, 1935, in Painesville, Ohio. He lived in Fairport Harbor and Painesville, attending St. Anthony's Elementary School and St. Mary's School. He graduated in 1954 from Harvey High School. Ron and his twin brother Bob were members of the 1951 Harvey "Red Raiders" only undefeated, untied football team in the history of the school. The entire football team was inducted into the Hall of Fame for this successful feat.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Mary Jones of Middlefield on June 24, 1961 and moved to Kent. He completed his college education at Kent State University graduating with a Bachelor's and Master's in Education.
Ron's teaching career started in Streetsboro before moving on to Kent City Schools until his retirement in 1995. He coached football for 6 years and baseball for 23 years. After retirement he substituted in Hudson City Schools because of his love of teaching.
Ron was a member of Kent's Knights of Columbus and a Scout Master for Troop 253. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and grandchildren and fishing and more fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Lisa; sons: Mark (Monica) and Gregory (Erin); grandchildren: Matthew, Grace, Ryan, Mackenzie, Montana, Hayden and (baby).
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Anne Hanszak and father Louis John Hnath; twin brother Robert; sister Audrey; and brother Louis Jr.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home 628 West Main Street Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday May 31, 2012 at Holy Family Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow. Final resting place will be at Standing Rock Cemetery Kent.
