Ron Rivett – A Life Well Lived
If you’re reading this, it means I have left this wonderful earth and have been reunited with my parents, Harry and Colletta Rivett, in Heaven. I’m also with my Lord and Savior, basking in the peace and grace of eternal life. While my time here has come to an end, I want you to know that I lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by the people I loved most.
I was born on February 7, 1950, and on the morning of my 75th birthday, February 7, 2025, my journey here came to a close. Over the past few years, I bravely fought my 3-year battle with cancer, but I never let it take away my appreciation for life, my sense of humor, or my love for my family.
Education and career were important to me, and I took great pride in my work. I attended Aurora High School, earned an electronics degree, and obtained my first-class FCC license. In my mid-30s, I returned to school to earn my bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, an accomplishment that meant so much to me. My career as a systems engineer at NASA was something I was incredibly proud of, and I cherished the opportunity to work alongside brilliant minds, solving problems and pushing the boundaries of technology.
At the heart of my life was my wife, Mary (Svette) Rivett, my love, my partner, and my best friend. She was my greatest blessing, and I cherished every moment we had together. From the big adventures to the quiet moments at home, our life together was more than I could have ever hoped for. We shared a deep love of traveling, exploring both the beauty of the U.S. national parks and the rich history of Europe, creating memories that I held close to my heart. Through all of life’s joys and challenges, Mary was by my side, and in these past few years, her love, strength, and care meant more to me than words can ever express. I will be forever grateful to her for the life we built together and the unwavering support she gave me.
I was blessed with a family that meant everything to me. My brothers, Gary Rivett and his wife Christine of Aurora, David Rivett and his wife Paulette of Mantua, and Phillip Rivett and his wife Sherrie of Medina, along with my sister Judy Sexton and her partner Dale Gill of Streetsboro, were not just my siblings, they were my lifelong friends. I will always cherish the memories of our childhood together, growing up in a house filled with love and laughter. I was also blessed with two brothers-in-law, Louis Svette and his wife Lisa of Bakersfield, California, and James Svette and his wife Debbie of Mantua.
To my nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Jason) Bennett, Kathleen Rivett, Tiffany Rivett, Brian Sexton, John (Ninfa) Rivett, Jeremy Rivett, Logan (Miranda) Rivett, Garrett Rivett, Hayden Rivett and Meridith (Sean) Daniel, you all brought so much joy into my life. And to my great-nieces and great-nephews, Cameron Bennett, Rylee Bennett, Josie Sexton, Carmine Baran, Giovanni Baran, Marco Rivett, Harry Rivett, Uma Daniel and Quinn Daniel, you filled my life with laughter and love, and I am grateful for the time I had with each of you.
Though I have left this world, please don’t dwell on the sadness of my passing. Instead, remember the good times, the laughter, and the love that we shared. I had a great life, and I was blessed with incredible people to share it with. Live your life fully, cherish the ones you love, and take the time to truly appreciate the world around you. That is the greatest gift you can give yourself and those around you.
