Ronald S. Wright, 53, of Kent, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.
He was born July 9, 1958 in Detroit, MI to William and Josie (Reddick) Wright. He served 14 years in the Army during Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf War. Ron worked as a Corrections/Detention Officer for the City of Kent and Portage County Sheriffs Department. He also was a crane operator at Chrysler in Twinsburg and a tow motor operator for Gojo Industries in Cuyahoga Falls. He was an excellent athlete playing football, track and wrestling. Ron was a handyman that could fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Meredith) Wright; daughters, Alanna Wright of Brimfield and Ralise Wright of Kent; grandchildren, Davion Wright, Trinity Rakes, Marcus Turnage, Ronald Turnage and Malaya Turnage; brothers, Vincent Wright of Akron and William Stanley Wright of Akron; sisters, Joanne Wright of Surprise, AZ, Marion (Thomas Evans) Wright of Akron, Leslie Wright of Akron, Denita (Gary Oliver) Wright of Akron and Jody Hunt of Akron; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Josie Wright; and brother, Anthony Wright.
Calling hours will be held 12-1 PM Saturday, February 25th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent, where funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 25th. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery, 12:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2012.
