Rose M. Tymcio, 85, died peacefully on January 2, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 6, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to Erasmo and Josephine Porfido. She graduated from North High School in Akron, Ohio. After graduation, she worked for North Akron Savings Bank. She married Nick Tymcio on July 7th, 1951, and they were married for 29 years until Nick died on February 28, 1981. Mom helped open the first Kmart in Stow in 1969, where she worked for 25 years and developed many long term friendships. After retirement, Mom kept busy entertaining her grandsons and attending many family events. Mom was involved in many civic activities which included volunteer work for the Catholic Clothing store in Ravenna, St. Patrick's Church, the Brimfield Garden Club, and Election Judge for her district. Mom enjoyed traveling. She took trips with her brothers to Hawaii, London, Rome, and to their Mother and Father's birthplace in Italy. She made numerous trips to visit family in California, Nevada, Florida, and Utah. She also made trips to visit the National Parks of the West which included a hike into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone at the age of 70. Mom became a huge fan of all Cleveland sports, including the Cleveland Browns, the Indians, and the Cavaliers. She cheered them on and unknown to them became a virtual Mother to several players. Mom's favorite hobbies were gardening and cooking. She took great pride in her culinary skills to the delight of all who had the privilege to be invited to dinner. Many family barbeques were enjoyed at Rose and Nick's house which included an array of vegetables from their huge garden. She also enjoyed playing cards with her Brimfield buddies and taking bus trips to gamble with her friends. Mom loved her family, loved her friends, loved her friend's families, and loved living her life to the fullest. Rose is survived by her daughters, Paula (Scott) Morris and Lisa Tymcio; son, Ron Tymcio and wife Kathy Sedgwick; two grandsons, Aron and Ryan Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Nick; brothers, Pete and Frank Porfido; sister, Katherine; her dear cousin, Jean Kershaw; and parents, preceded Rose in death.
