Ruby G. Anderson
Soft spoken with a twinkle in her eye, Ruby Gene Anderson, 93, of Kent, left this earth for her heavenly home. She passed peacefully Wednesday, December 13th, at home.
Ruby was born February 15, 1924, in Waltersburg, PA, to Samuel and Nora Irene Knight. Raised on a farm during the Depression, she learned to appreciate everything she had. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian, Ruby passed these lessons on to her children, showing them how to be creative and nurturing people.
Life took her from the farm to working at the Summit Hotel to being a stay-at-home mom, helping to support her family by bread baking, sewing dresses, and cake decorating. Her love of meeting people and travel took her across the country more than once.
As a life-long member of Brady Lake UMC, she taught Sunday school, bible school, and was a member of UMW. Her fondest friend memories include being a charter member of the Brady Lake Women's Club.
She is survived by son, Edward (Sylke) Anderson of Petaluma, CA; daughters, Linda (Daniel) Amodio of Diamond, Joyce (Rev. Paul) Meduri of Kent, and Sharon Hamilton of Kalamazoo, MI; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sister, Anna Faye Smith of Decatur, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Anderson in 2013, brothers, Harry Knight, Raymond Knight, Robert Knight, Lloyd Knight, and Elroy Knight; and sister, Delores Callen.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 30th at Lake Brady United Methodist Church with Pastor Tina Nees officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the services. Private burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Brady United Methodist Church, 1995 Brady Lake Road, Brady Lake, OH 44211 or
St. Jude's Hospital, Attn: Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
