Ruth L. Nichols, 84, died September 11, 2013 in the Hospice Unit at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Ruth was born October 3, 1928 in Lancaster, OH to Everett and Leota (Gwartney) Mace. Mrs. Nichols worked as a secretary in the insurance industry and as a Tour Director for Bixler Tours. She was a member of Kent United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Ruth was active in leadership in both the Kent PTA and in the Girl Scouts. She loved music and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Nichols, whom she married on June 10, 1951, sons Charles (Christine) Nichols of Windham, Edward (Vicki) Nichols of Kent, daughter Janice (James) McGinnis, of Beaver, PA, grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Jennifer, John, and Chris, and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:30 - 6:00 on Tuesday, September 17th at Kent United Methodist Church 1435 E. Main Street Kent, OH, where a memorial service, celebrating Ruth's life will be held at 6:00 PM, with the Rev. Dr. David Palmer and Rev. Douglas Denton officiating. Private family burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kent United Methodist Church.
