Sherry L. Thompson passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, after eight long years battling breast cancer. The disease wore down the body but not her spirit. She has been an inspiration to everyone she knew.
Sherry was born in Ravenna, November 12, 1949, and lived with her parents in Brady Lake until marrying Robert "GUS" Thompson, June 7, 1969 and set up house in Kent City. She graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1967 and Riggs Le Mar Beauty School. Sherry owned and operated The Style House Beauty Salon of Kent for 40 years. She will be missed by her loyal patrons whom have become more like family, and like family have given much support during this difficult time.
Sherry was a selfless loving person always wanting to help others expecting nothing in return. She was totally devoted to her family. She loved fussing with her home, shopping for "pretties" even if she didn't buy anything and spending time in the garden. She really enjoyed her yard. Her biggest disappointment this past year was not having enough strength to mow the grass. She loved having everything picture perfect.
Sherry leaves behind her loving husband; mother, Josephine LeRoy; sister, Tina (Michael) Downs and their children Alexis and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her father, Leighotis LeRoy; and brother, Lee.
Thanks to Drs. Mubashir, Marquinez and Rehman, Inc. for assisting Sherry in her fight. There are no words to express the care and devotion the entire staff offered Sherry during her stay at Robinson Memorial Hospital. You guys are great.
Calling hours will be held 1-4 PM Saturday, January 25th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Private funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266.
