Siegfried "Fritz" Schweda, 82, of Suffield, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
Fritz was born in Poland and lived there until the Russians invaded his homeland during WWII. He and his family fled to Germany as refugees. Fritz came to the U.S. from Germany in 1952, where he served 2 years in the Army, becoming a private first class. Upon his return to the Akron area, he began working at Perfection Mold and Machine in Akron, where he met his wife, Maggie. They were married April 20, 1963, moved to Suffield in 1971, and raised their 3 children.
Fritz loved to be in his garden, always growing the perfect tomatoes and being on his tractor. He enjoyed trains and would spend many evenings building a train room making his own mountains, houses, and trees made from his pines in the yard. He retired from Perfection in 2005 after 41 years at the age of 72.
He is survived by his daughter, Tia (Bob) Paoloni of Kent; sons, Justin (Jennifer) Schweda of Northfield and Cary (Norma) Schweda of Akron; grandchildren, Marisa, Maggie, Meghan, Joseph, Ashley, and Justin; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie in 1993; and his parents in Germany.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 13th from 4-8 PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 Main Street in Kent, where services will be held Monday morning 10 AM, followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Montrose.
