Steven R. Timbrook, of Kent, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness.
He was born November 2, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, to William and Jane (Tunks) Timbrook. He was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam Era, where he specialized as an artist at the Pentagon. After serving in the Army, Steve received his bachelor's degree from Denison University. He went on to obtain a master of fine arts in painting from the University of Michigan, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Steve enjoyed a 30-year career at Kent State University as an associate professor in the School of Visual Communication Design, also serving as interim director for three years.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He was unique, creative, intelligent, and quick-witted. He took great pride in bringing ideas to life. Steve was an avid sports fan (Go Blue!) and adored assisting his children in their athletic endeavors. He was supportive of his children's goals and always inspired them to pursue their dreams. He loved all animals, especially his beloved dogs, Jana and Teddy. Steve will be remembered for his tremendous strength and courage. His wife, children, and loved ones who remain will experience an emptiness in their hearts that cannot be replaced.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Stiller) Timbrook, whom he married in 1987; children, Alanah Renee Timbrook, Haley Lynn Timbrook, and Mack Alan Timbrook all of Kent; sister, Deborah (Thomas) LaJeunesse of Toledo; mother, Jane (Tunks) Timbrook of Toledo; and father-in-law, William Stiller of Akron. He also leaves behind a beloved extended family and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Timbrook and mother-in-law, Alice Stiller.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Palliative Care Staff at the Cleveland Clinic for their tireless compassion, loving care, and thoughtful guidance.
A prayer service will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 2, 2016, at St. Patrick Church, 313 N. Depeyster St., Kent, with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Please join the family in a celebration of Steve's life at The Overlook, 1519 Overlook Road, Kent (Twin Lakes) following the prayer service. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the donor's choice.
