Suzanne White (nee Garl) age 81, of Streetsboro, Ohio passed away on February 1, 2022, in the loving arms of her husband. She was born on October 11, 1940, in Akron, Ohio to the late Tom and Vivian (Favors) Garl.
Beloved wife of 55 years to Fred C. White; loving Mother of Kathleen (Matthew) Moore, Heather (Leonard Prusnick) White, Shannon (Greg) Cassi; grandmother to Amber Dean (Danny Rickard), Elaine Dean; Jacob Cassi; sister to Paulette Kordinak and Elizabeth (Robert) Goldthwaite.
Suzanne was the matriarch of the family, an artist, she loved books, history, and all things magical. She had a magical way of thinking the world and people were inherently good and everything would turn out for the best. She built a life and family with Fred that spanned over 5 decades, living in British Columbia for the first two. Suzanne created a tribe of friends that became family anywhere she went.
She fiercely and unconditionally loved those lucky enough to know her. She was a true nurturer, always making room at the table for one more. She would tell us to walk toward the light and to look to the helpers and healers. Suzanne was always a bright light in the dark.
As a proud graduate of The Ohio State University School of Nursing, she worked the last portion of her career as a hospice nurse for The Western Reserve of Cleveland, assisting people through their final days with grace and dignity. She loved to paint and was an amazing artist. Teaching art was a passion of hers. She was a storyteller and could spin a tale to captivate a room. Her love of reading and culture made her world wildly diverse. She really wanted people to know the world was big, and full of unlimited adventures. She was nonjudgmental and tolerant, always looking to the things that made us the same, not different. She was fearless and believed she could do anything. She would set her mind and it was possible. An avid bridge player, Suzanne enjoyed time playing bridge with a few clubs in the area.
She raised three very different, strong, independent women that will carry and hold the best part of her as cherished gifts. Her legacy of free-spirited travelers who learned to see the wonders of the world that other people may miss, continues on with her grandchildren.
In honoring her wishes, Susanne will be cremated. Visitation will be Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00PM and will be live streamed on Bissler and Sons Facebook page.
As a strong supporter of the arts and nature, in lieu of flowers please support a local artist and plant pollination gardens in honor of Suzanne White’s memory.
