Sylvia S. Trundle (age 95) passed away November 4, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born April 10, 1922 to the late George and Elsie Stewart. A longtime resident of Kent, she was raised in Stow and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School.
Sylvia will always be remembered for her God given artistic talent. Sylvia's early years were spent in the commercial art field as a department store fashion artist and later as a free-lance illustrator for advertising agencies, publishers and magazines. In 1974 she won her first award for a pastel portrait and thus began a serious approach to the fine arts. As a dedicated artist, she developed her own style with a concentration in miniature watercolors. Sylvia exhibited in national & international miniature art shows winning countless awards. Her work hangs in both public and private collections as well as the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
Her memberships include Miniature Artists of Florida, Miniature Painters Society of Washington DC, longtime membership in the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and elected "signature membership" to the Miniature Artists of America. She was an associate member of the Stow Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Trundle; and survived by her son, Marc (Sylvia) Trundle; nephew, Paul Cocklin; and nieces Cynthia (John) Zappone and Janet (Skip) Ellinger.
At Sylvia's request, a private gravesite service has been held at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent with Rev Dr. Sandy Selby officiating. A special thanks to Dr Michelle Holmer and the nurses and staff of the Gardens of Western Reserve in Cuyahoga Falls for their attentive care.
