Terese “Terri” Crow, age 75 of Ravenna, passed away after battling multiple types of cancer, Monday, July 3, 2023 at The Laurels of Massillon.
Terri was born Terese Francis Roznik on August 20, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. She constantly carried around a certain doll as a young child, which earned her the nickname “Dolly.” The nickname stuck. In fact, her parents, brothers and many relatives referred to her as “Dolly” for the rest of her life. Decades later, she would even become known as “Grandma Dolly” to her beloved grandchildren.
After high school, Terri attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1969. She also had a summer job at the snack bar at Landerhaven Country Club in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Terri’s older brother, Richard, worked as a lifeguard at the Landerhaven swimming pool, and it was through Richard that Terri met another lifeguard at the pool, Lance Crow. Terri and Lance were married on July 6, 1968.
Terri and Lance lived on Cherry Street in Kent for a short time, then bought a house on Graham Road in Stow, Ohio, near the corner of Darrow Road. The couple raised their three children in this house, while being active in the congregation of Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow.
Terri worked as a substitute teacher and a stay-at-home mom during her children’s early years. Then in 1986, she accepted a full-time position as a second grade teacher with St. Hilary School in Fairlawn, Ohio, a job she loved very much. Terri taught second graders at St. Hilary for 29 years, only switching to first grade for one year at the request of the school administration. Terri then retired from teaching in 2016, after a 30-year career as a full-time educator.
Terri and Lance moved to Ravenna, Ohio in 2000, where they remained until May of 2023, when they both moved into The Laurels of Massillon long-term care facility. At the time of Terri’s passing, she and Lance were just three days short of their 55th wedding anniversary.
Terri will be remembered fondly as a caring mom, grandmother and teacher, with an infectious laugh and an instant rapport with young children. She loved playing pinochle and decorating her classroom with handmade arts and crafts, and she always put other people’s needs ahead of her own.
Terri is survived by her husband Lance Crow Sr.; daughter Michelle (Richard) Laskey; son Lance Crow Jr.; granddaughter Evelyn; grandson Nicholas; brother Jack (Maria) Roznik; sister-in-law Maija Roznik; nieces Jaclyn (Jacob) Kurkul and Lisa Roznik; nephews Joey Roznik and Michael Roznik; and cousin-in-law Lynn deGerenday.
Terri was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Crow; parents John (Theresia "Rose") Roznik; brothers Johnny Roznik and Richard Roznik; and in-laws Walter (Claire) Crow, Nick (Helen) Major, and Laci (Elizabeth) deGerenday.
