Terry Lee Morris

December 12, 1946 — December 12, 2021

Kent

Terry Lee Morris, of Kent, was called home to meet his Savior on December 12, 2021 at the age of 75.

Terry was born in Clearwater, Florida to Virginia L. and Robert F. Morris on December 12, 1946.  Terry attended schools in Springfield, Ohio, South Bend, Indiana, and Sheffield Lake, Ohio before graduating from Brookside High School in 1965.  Terry served our country in the United States Navy.  He attended Kent State University and later served as a Kent State Police Officer from 1970 to 1993.  Terry also worked as a dispatcher for the City Service Company and for Gilmore Security Systems.

Terry was an avid bowler, bowling up to 6 days a week in many leagues throughout the years.  He belonged to many ham radio clubs and was a strong supporter of the Portage County Amateur Club of Ravenna (PCARSO).  Terry enjoyed spending time with other amateur radio operators while volunteering to work at different biathlons and triathlons, Soap Box Derbies and during annual Field Day events.

He was a member and officer of FOP Lodge 70 (Fraternal Order of Police) in Ravenna serving on the Board as Recording Secretary for many years.  Terry always had a thirst for knowledge and was always looking for new things to try.  He never met a stranger and he could carry on a lengthy conversation with anyone, sometimes allowing them to get in a word or two!  Terry attended St. Patrick Church and the University Parish Newman Center.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Morris; grandson, Carlos Morris; sisters, Pam (Mike) Green, Patti (Paul) McAfee; Debbie (Jack) Russell; brother, Robert (Gloria) Morris, Jr.; aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, the Venegas family with whom Terry shared a very special bond, and many, many special friends.  He will be greatly missed.

Terry will be buried with full military honors at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio, on December 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM.  A gathering of friends and family will be held after the burial at the IOOF Lodge Hall above Key Bank, 13 S. Fountain Avenue, Springfield, Ohio.  A celebration of Terry’s life will take place on January 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the FOP Hall in Ravenna, Ohio with Chaplin Robert Burgess officiating.
