Thomas G. Blosser
Thomas G. Blosser, age 79, passed away on April 19th in Kent, Ohio. Born September 29, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Herman G. Blosser and Mary Ellen Horrocks. A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, the University of Pittsburgh and the D.T. Watson School of Physical Therapy, in his professional life he was a certified physical therapist and athletic trainer. His early work focused on children with polio. After further studies at Kent State University, he served as athletic trainer at KSU and later as Professor of Anatomy and Kinesiology for the Department of Health, Recreation and Physical Education. Following his retirement, Tom served as a physical therapist at the Cleveland Clinic.
Tom also served in the army of occupation in Germany after WWII.
A competitive diver in his youth, he participated in the Olympic trials for the 1956 Olympics. Tom also enjoyed golfing and was a long standing member of a bowling team at KSU. He also enjoyed traveling and cooking. He is a member of the American Legions and was, for many years, a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Kent.
Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Duff Boyd; he is survived by his sister, Norma Robison of Raleigh, NC; his son, Thomas Laurence Blosser (Nancy Truitt) of Columbus; his daughter, Beth Blosser (Stefano Carta) of Rome, Italy; and five grandchildren: Jean, Grant, Caroline, and Scott Blosser, and Emma Carta.
Tom will be remembered by all for his quiet good humor, his kindness and generosity, his skill at building and his love for good food and wine.
