Thomas E. Dezort trudged through his earthly life with a smile for 68 years and began his heavenly journey June 21st.
His life began January 15, 1948 in Cuyahoga Falls born to Elmer and Dorothy (McMullen) Dezort. As a youngster he was involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, school choirs, plays and church activities. He married Julianne (Meloy) June 20, 1970 and attended Akron University before enlisting in the Air Force. After 4 years he returned to Ohio and built a life in Ravenna. He worked diligently at being a competent copy machine repairman. He retired from A.C.E. in 2014. Being a member of Trinity Lutheran, he was involved in many church activities as choirs, plays, bell ringing, gardening, golf and bowling teams, Trinitarians, spaghetti dinners and helping with various aspects of Sunday worship. His hands were always willing. Although not a sports participant, he rarely missed a baseball, soccer, basketball or Tae Kwon Do exhibit of his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julianne (Meloy), daughters Katie (Fred) Lange of Mantua, Denise Broyles of Kent, Annette (Darrick) Dean of New Castle, PA., grandsons Mathias, Aidan Broyles and Logan Dean, sister Marianne (Allen) Kalbaugh of Brimfield, mother-in-law Marie Meloy of Kent and brother-in-law Michael (Diana) Meloy of Stow and several nieces and nephews and cousins. His dog, Shyanne, will miss the morning breakfast milk.
Calling hours will be at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home in Kent, Sunday June 26th from 2-5 and Monday June 27th from 10-11 at Trinity Lutheran Church 600 S. Water St. Kent. Funeral services will be at 11 with Pastor Betti and Pastor George Geiser assisting. Following the service, burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Please honor Tom by wearing bright colorful clothing. He enjoyed bright colors in clothes and flowers.
