Thomas Lovell Fields, 86, of Brimfield, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Maison Aine Care Center in Stow.
He was born January 25, 1928 in Harmony, WV to Thomas M. and Ida Jane (Kiser) Fields. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Spencer, WV when he was 14. Tom was a combat veteran of the Army during World War II and the Korean War. Tom loved to collect trains and spent 3 summers in Hagerstown, MD helping to restore the T1-2100 Reading Steam Engine, during which time he lived in a crew car in the Roundhouse. He was a toy train enthusiast and after retiring he worked at Right of Way Industries in Akron developing brass toy trains. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. Tom was a member of the Dellroy American Legion # 475 and the Mogadore VFW #8487. When he was 72 he went para-sailing while on a family vacation. Having enlisted before completing high school he finally graduated in May of 2001 and took his senior trip of an Alaskan cruise. He loved to travel and went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in May 2011. Prior to joining First Freedom Baptist Church in Brimfield, he was a founding member of the Temple Baptist Church of Green where at he received Christ as his savior.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Perkins) Fields; son, Richard E. (Vicky) Fields of Sioux Falls, SD; adopted daughter, Patricia Williams of ZephyrHills, FL; step-daughter, Terri Anne Radcliff of Elizabeth, WV; grandchildren, Lisa Radcliff, Robert Radcliff, Kimberly Brantner, Lori Proemm, Thomas Brantner, Melissa Bowers, T.J. Fields, Robert Williams, Travis, Shavon and Shannon Shultis; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Mabel Taylor of Elizabeth, WV; over 100 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by first wife, Maxine (Perry) in 1950; second wife, Irene (Gandee) in 1984; brothers, Bruce Fields and Brady Fields; sisters, Celia Epling, Bessie Lesher, Kerry Carpenter and Lucille Cantley; step-daughter, Monica Brantner.
Calling hours will be held 7-9 PM Friday, January 23th at First Freedom Baptist Church 2171 Tallmadge Road, Brimfield and Saturday January 24th from 11 AM - 1 PM, where funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 24th with Pastor Dan Alexoff officiating. Burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 1:30 PM Monday, January 26th. Memorial contributions may be made to Brimfield Community Cupboard, 1235 Tallmadge Road, Kent, OH 44240.
