Thomas “Tom” Joseph Deep, age 76, of Kent, died on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at University Hospital of Cleveland after suffering a heart attack.
Tom was born December 14, 1943 in New Castle, PA to Abraham and Twila (Christley) Deep. He worked as a mechanical engineer until his retirement. Tom enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, and bowling (300 game!) in younger years, and in his latter years he also enjoyed watching movies from the library, researching his genealogy, and meeting people from all over the world on Facebook. He loved Syrian food and taking pictures of nature.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, who worked at Kent State University for over 30 years, and by his children and their spouses: Jodi (Bruce) Hook, Houston, TX, Tom (Debbie) Deep, Painesville, Debbie (Jamie) Wise, Roanoke, VA, and Tracy Deep (John Trathen), Cuyahoga Falls. He also leaves his grandchildren: Rebekah (Fabio Silva), Rachel, and Andrew (Haley) Hook, Matthew and Michael Deep, Kegan (Libby Bradford), Coreena, and Griffen Wise, and Kyle and Justin Trathen. His sister, Peggy, and brother, John, and their families also mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place in the care of Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. With a goal to keep everyone safe and healthy, the family will not be having services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in Tom's name to the Kent Free Library Foundation at 312 West Main Street in Kent, Ohio, 44240.
