Vicki Rostedt

Vicki Dione Rostedt, 69, of Kent was called home to the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2024 with her loving family and friends surrounding her.

Vicki was born to John and Evanelle Durant on October 26, 1955. She was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School and Kent State University, where she met her husband of 45 years, Eric, in 1975. At Kent State, she earned bachelor degrees in both advertising and telecommunications and a master’s in business administration. Vicki was a teacher for nearly 30 years before retiring as a professor in the Business Technology department at The University of Akron.

A devoted follower of Christ, Vicki was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Kent where she served as the Children’s Choir Director for over a decade. Her confidence was in 2 Corinthians 5:5 “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. While her absence fills us with grief, we rejoice that she is now in the presence of the Savior she followed so faithfully.

Vicki was quick to laugh, loved to joke, and reveled in competition with friends and family. From hosting holiday meals to organizing Bible studies, her love and dedication was evident in everything she did. One of her lasting legacies is the dedication and guidance she gave her three children to achieve their goals while providing a Christ-centered foundation that will carry on for generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evanelle, and survived by her devoted husband Eric; beloved sister Johneita Durant; and children, Jon (Courtney) Rostedt of Cuyahoga Falls, Jason (Justina) Rostedt of Fairfax, Virginia and Jessica (Josh) Kvam of Woodstock, Georgia. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Senlove, Preston, Myah, Olivia, Benaiah, Victoria, Gianna, Asher, David, Nora, and Josiah and many other dear friends and extended family including her cousins, William Durant and Vida Durant.

A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Kent (5915 Rhodes Road) at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
