Walter Charles Knapp, age 95, entered eternal rest May 28th, 2020 in Hudson, OH. Born June 5, 1924 in Kent Ohio, he was the son of the late Frank and Bessie Knapp (nee Kline). Beloved husband of 64 years to the dream of his life, the late Thelma L. Knapp (nee Howe). He is survived by his children Cherie Duren (John), Walter C. Knapp II, Gary Knapp (Peggy), Greg Knapp (Trudy), Tammy Fuller (Keith), 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters Florence Common and Eleanor Simone and brother James Knapp. Preceded in death by his son Keith Knapp and 4 siblings.
Walter graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1942. He proudly served as a pilot in WWII, flying P-40’s and C-47’s in Europe and received the Air Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead for the invasion of Germany.
He enjoyed a fulfilling career with W.G. Lockhart where he was a construction foreman.
Brief services with social distancing will be held June 2, 2020 at 12 pm at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main Street, Kent, Ohio. Internment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Walter’s honor to the charitable organization of your choice.
