She was born June 17, 1935 in Mantua, to Madeline (Racz) Crowe Sloey. Wanda worked at Lamb Electric and Smithers Oasis for many years. She was a member of Mud Hen Ceramics, enjoyed painting, gardening, spending time with and caring for her family. Wanda was active in the Brady Lake Association. An animal lover, Wanda loved to take care of any injured animal and was the duck whisperer of Lake Brady.
She is survived by grandchildren, Shawn Thornton and Dawn Trotter; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters, Clinton (Marilyn) Crowe of Hollister, CA, Robert Crowe of Ravenna, Mary Louise Lauck of Kent, Louis (Jill) Sloey of Bay City, TX and Vanessa (Jerry) Moore of Ravenna. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Ashby Thornton; son, Gary Lee Thornton; daughter, Diana Lynn Moore; sister, Julie Ann Bonner; mother and step-father, Madeline and Harry Sloey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale of Ravenna and Brookdale Hospice for their warm and loving care.
Memorial services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, July 7th at Lake Brady United Methodist Church with Rev. Tina Nees officiating, where friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Private burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association C/o Alzheimer's Research, 70 W.
