Wilbur S. McKay, Jr., 91, passed away in his home on May 4, 2011, surrounded by his family. "Mac" was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Air Corps 6th and 7th Air Depot Group during WWII. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal in March, 1945 for meritorious service. "Through his untiring efforts, initiative and ingenuity he was successful in keeping a maximum number of air craft operational." In addition to being an Engineer during the war, he worked for the City of Columbus, designing many bridges for the city. He was also involved in designing structures for the Columbus Zoo. Mac received his Engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.
He is survived by his three daughters, Susan Langsdale of Wellington, Meredith Reusser of Rocky River, and Beth Rinear of Kent, with whom he resided until his death, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
A military ceremony is planned for a later date at Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River, Ohio.
