William "Billy" Ferris

February 13, 1969 — September 27, 2015

William P. "Billy" Ferris, 46, of Kent, died Wednesday, September 27, 2015 at Akron City Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days following a heart attack.

Born February 13, 1969, he was the son of William Luther Ferris and Sandra (Klatka) Ferris. A life resident of the Kent area, he was a 1987 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School.

He worked at Advanced Display in Kent and at the Moon-Glo Roller Rink, a family business, until he was disabled.

He cherished his memories of the Moon-Glo, which was operated by his grandparents, Paul and Wilma Klatka and later by his mother, and was proud to be a part of the three-generation business. He oversaw a Facebook site about the Moon-Glo that had more than 1,000 members.

Billy loved people. Once he was your friend, it was forever, and that even included strangers. He loved hosting family, friends and acquaintances at his home on Lynn Road.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping and biking.

Even though he faced health challenges for many years, Billy tried to remain upbeat and active. He never let how he was feeling stop him from enjoying being with people.

Survivors include his mother, Sandra; his only child, Aydan Kearson Ferris of Danville, Ga., and Aydan's mother, Kim Beck of Kent; brother, David M. (Connie) Hansen of Goodyear. Az.; and his four-legged companions. His father, William L., died in 1999.

In keeping with Billy's wishes, there will be no services, but friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Life from 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, until the last person leaves, at his home at 1723 Lynn Road, Brimfield. Bring a lawn chair and beverage of your choice and your favorite memory of Billy. Bissler and Sons Funeral Home in Kent handled arrangements.

Recently, Billy shared this message on Facebook: "In one of the stars, I shall be living. In one of the stars I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all of the stars will be laughing when you look at the sky at night." Look for a laughing, smiling star. That's B.
