William N. 'Bill' Redman, 66, of Kent, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.
He was born June 28, 1948 in Cambridge, to Robert S. and Pauline M. (Broome) Redman. William retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He then worked at Parker-Hannafin and Cantex as an extruder/operator. He was a member of the American Legion #496 in Kent. Bill was a very active member in AA having celebrated 13 years of sobriety. He enjoyed vintage cars and drag racing. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elfriede (Bittel) Redman, whom he married on February 1, 1971; sons, Charles "Charlie" Jon (Amy) Redman of Ravenna and Robert "Bob" Wilson (Billie Jean Swaffer) Redman of Green; grandchildren, Rebecca (Michael) Beach, Carrie Redman, Emmanuella "Mandy" Redman, Sierra Neff, Brittany Redman, Robert Redman and Timothy Redman; four great grandchildren; brothers, Gale "Butch" Redman of Diamond, Roger "Red" Redman of East Canton, Charles "Charlie" (Debi) Redman of Kent; sisters, Shirley (Allen) Purdy of Brimfield and Dorothy "Dottie" Stout of Brimfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pauline Redman; step-father, Dean Goodwill.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Friday, January 16th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Chouinard officiating. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Park.
