Willie B. Smith, 89, of Kent, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 25, 1924 in Bowdon, GA to George and Emmaline (Flanning) Smith. He loved to teach and spread the word of God and visit the Coleman Day Care Center. Rev. Willie was always dressed, was well liked and loved popcorn. He was a member of the Cathedral Chapel. Rev. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and the Aids that helped take care of him. He will be greatly missed by the PARTA drivers and by all who knew him.
His family would like to thank Interim Home Health, Pinnacle, Coleman Day Care and his Doctors, as well as, his case manager and friends and family that visited him.
He is survived by son, Willie "Gene" (Gwen) Smith of Akron; daughters, Nancy Jones-Smith of Kent and Jeraldine (Duane) Smith-Brown of Kent; twenty three grandchildren; seventy three great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Bell-Smith; second wife, Lillie Echoles-Smith; son, Curtis L. Smith; and grandson, Leon "Lee" Jones Jr.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, July 11th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Green Jr. and Rev. Marcus Lowe officiating, with calling hours from 11 AM until the time of service. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
