Marie Carolyn (Bonesteel) Titko, age 87, of Kent, OH, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Summa Akron City Hospital surrounded by her entire family.
Marie was born May 10, 1935 in Akron, OH to the late William and Helen (Parrish) Bonesteel.
She graduated in the class of 1953 from Kent Roosevelt High School, where she played the saxophone in the Roughrider Marching band. After high school, she married Donald E. Titko Sr., July 8, 1955. While Don was stationed with the Army in Germany for 3.5 years, they enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. Upon returning to the States, she then began raising her family of four children. In 1970, Marie returned to working for Citibank and attended the Ohio School of Banking in Athens, Ohio. Her career spanned 25 years and included not only being a branch manager, but also being named the first female officer of Ameritrust Bank now known as KeyBank.
Marie was an accomplished pianist throughout her life and enjoyed playing for her family and spending time teaching her grandchildren how to play. She is lovingly known to her family as momma bear to her four cubs. She loved preparing gourmet meals, boating and vacationing on the beach with her family.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Gary) Young, Donald E. (Patty) Titko Jr., Douglas (Kris) Titko, John V. (Brandi) Titko; grandchildren, Jillian (Dave) Duma, Jenna (Jake) Shurer, Miranda (Nick) Lach, Kayla (Dan) Hoye, Zachary Young, Brandon Young, Jonathan Titko, Bailey Ricci, and Kelsey (Ethan) Murphy; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Marian (Ron) Walters; sister-in-law, Evelyn Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald E. Titko Sr.; grandson Matthew Titko; parents William and Helen (Parrish) Bonesteel; siblings Kenneth and Vernon Bonesteel and Marvel Clark.
Calling hours will be held 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH, 44240. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 4, 2022, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Fr. Thomas P Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery.
